A Louisiana native, a former Sun Belt Conference softball star, will be the new head coach at a state school next season.

Meghan Collins was tabbed as the new head coach at LSU Eunice last week.

Collins played at South Alabama from 2011-2014, setting the program record with 189 consecutive starts, while helping the Jaguars to appearances in two Regional Finals (2012-2013).

A native of Lacombe, Louisiana, Collins spent two seasons as an assistant at South Alabama following graduation, before working at Southeastern Louisiana for three years, 2015-2017.

The last two seasons, Collins was an assistant coach at the University of Montevallo.

Collins replaces Andy Lee, who left LSUE, an NJCAA Division II school, to accept the head coaching position at Northwest Florida State College.

In 11 seasons at LSUE, Lee guided the Bengals to six national championships, including 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2019.

During his tenure at LSUE, Lee compiled an overall record of 582-107 overall record.

Collins becomes the third head softball coach in LSUE history.
