The top-ranked LSU Tigers are back in action on Thursday, when they travel to Starkville, Mississippi to take on the Mississippi St. Bulldogs in the opening game of a three-game SEC series.

The series marks the eight conference series of the year for both squads.

Winners of 15 of their last 18, LSU is currently 38-7, overall, and 14-6 in SEC play, good enough for first-place in the SEC West, one full game ahead of Texas A&M, who is 13-7.

Mississippi St., who has lost 10 of their last 12 contests, will enter the series at 23-22, overall, and 7-14 in league play.

Offensively, the Tigers are hitting a .320, along with 38 home runs, 291 runs batted in, and 84 stolen bases in 104 attempts, while out-scoring the opposition, 317-158.

Pitching-wise, LSU sports an overall, combined, team ERA. of 2.83, compared to a 6.04 for the opposition, while holding foes to a .232 batting average against.

The Bulldogs are hitting a .272 as a team, to go along with 19 homers, 203 RBI’s, and 39 stolen bases in 53 attempts.

On the hill, Mississippi St. sports a team ERA. of a 4.23, holding opponents to a .262 batting average against.

Mississippi St. leads the all-time series, 200-175-1.
