The No. 12 LSU Fighting Tigers baseball team will hit the road this weekend to take on the No. 2 Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Both teams are 4-2 in SEC play, the Tigers are 17-8 overall and the Bulldogs are 23-3 overall.

The overall series between these two SEC powers have been close with Mississippi State leading LSU, 204-187-1. However, some good fortune has been with the Tigers of late as they've won 10 of the last 11 games against the Bulldogs. In terms of last season, LSU won three of four of those meetings with the Miss. State, the Tigers took the season series 2-1 at LSU and they snatched an 8-5 win over the Bulldogs in the first round of the SEC Tournament. In addition, the Tigers have won 12 of the last 13 SEC regular season series meetings with the Bulldogs. The last time Mississippi State won a season series with LSU? That came in 2016 at LSU which snapped a run of nine straight series wins for the Tigers over MSU from 2007-2015. Paul Mainieri holds a 33-14 career record against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
