The LSU Tigers return to the hardwood on Thursday evening, when coach Johnny  Jones’ squad takes on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the second round of the postseason SEC Men's Basketball Tournament at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia.

The winner advances to take on second-seeded Kentucky in the quarterfinals on Friday, while the loser is eliminated.

LSU, the seven-seed, fell to Georgia on Saturday in their regular season finale, 69-61, to finish with an overall record of 18-12, and a conference mark of 9-9.

That 9-9 league mark put the Tigers in a tie for sixth place in the conference standings with Missouri and Ole Miss, nine games behind first-place Florida, who went unbeaten in conference play.

Alabama, the ten-seed, went 13-18, overall, and 7-11 in league play during the regular season, and finished tied for tenth place in the conference standings.

Offensively, LSU currently is third in the conference, scoring 75.6 points-per-game, while Alabama ranks 11th, averaging 68.2 points a contest.

LSU is led by junior forward Johnny O’Bryant, who is averaging 15.6 points-per-game, along with 7.9 rebounds-per-game, while Alabama is paced by senior guards Trevor Releford, who is averaging 18.8 points-per-game.

The Crimson Tide won the earlier match-up this season, defeating the Tigers, 82-80, back on January 25 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Tip-off time is scheduled for 6 o’clock.
