LSU Baseball Falls To Texas A&M, 3-2
The fifth-ranked LSU Tigers fell on the road in SEC baseball action on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Texas A&M Aggies in College Station, Texas.
Cole Lankford delivered a walk-off bases loaded single in the bottom half of the ninth inning, scoring Krey Bratsen, to give Texas A&M the one-run win.
The win evens up the series at one game apiece, while snapping LSU's four-game win streak.
The Aggies, who outhit the Tigers, 11-5, scored single runs in the first, second, and ninth innings, while both LSU runs came in the top of the fourth.
Lankford went 3-for-4, with two runs batted in, while Bratsen, Blake Allemand, and Nick Banks each collected two hits apiece for Texas A&M.
In a losing cause for LSU, Mark Laird and Conner Hale each banged out two hits.
Daniel Mengden (4-6) recorded the complete-game win for the Aggies, while Kurt McCune (2-2) suffered the loss in relief for the Tigers.
With the victory, Texas A&M improved to 29-19, overall, and 11-12 in SEC play, while LSU fell to 35-12-1, overall, and 13-9-1 in league play.
The rubber game of the series is slated for Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock.
