Louisiana Tech has hired ex-South Florida head football coach Skip Holtz to fill the vacant position in Ruston.

Holtz replaces Sonny Dykes who left LA Tech to take over as head coach at California. Dykes also announced this week that he will be bringing most of his staff to Berkley.

Skip Holtz, 48, is the son of Hall of Fame coach Lou Holtz, who is known most for his long and successful stint at Notre Dame, as well as being an analyst for ESPN's college football coverage.

Skip finished 3-9 this seasons with the USF Bulls, leading to his firing earlier this month.
