Less than a week after newly hired defensive coordinator Karl Scott left Louisiana's staff to join Alabama as their defensive backs coach, Ragin' Cajun head coach Billy Napier has found his new DC.

Ron Roberts, head coach of Southeastern Louisiana, is leaving the Lions program to become the Ragin' Cajuns new defensive coordinator.

Roberts, 50, has coached at the high school, Division II and FCS level.

This will mark his first FBS coaching job.

He took over as head coach of SLU in 2012, and thanked the University today on his twitter profile.

Roberts began his coaching career at Houston High School in Tennessee 1990, before serving as head coach of Burroughs High School in California from 94-96.

In 1997, he began his first college coaching gig, serving as DC at Greensboro College in North Carolina, before heading to Tusculum College in the same role for the next 5 years.

He then moved to Texas State to serve as DC in 2003. (Texas State, now a member of the Sun Belt, was an FCS program at the time)

Following one season in San Marcos, Roberts went back to the high school ranks, working as head coach of Mt. Whitney High School in California for a season, then moved to Delta State where he'd spend the next two years as defensive coordinator, before serving as head coach of the Statesmen from 2007-2011, reaching the NCAA Division II Championship Game in 2010.
