Reports coming out of Charlotte indicate it's likely Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is unlikely to play Monday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Newton suffered a concussion in the game against Atlanta last week and remains in the concussion protocol.  He did not participate in any activities on Thursday.  He would have to be cleared by an independent neurologist before being allowed to practice or play.

If Newton is unable to play, Derek Anderson, who threw two touchdown passes but was intercepted twice in relief of Newton last week, would be the starter.
