After Arkansas offered Les Miles a 5 year $27.5 million contract to be their next head football coach, LSU responded by making Miles an even richer man.

Miles has signed seven-year contract extension, giving him a raise and insuring that he will remain in Baton Rouge for the foreseeable future. LSU has not released details of Miles' raise, but he has been making $3.75 million annually.

Miles has the best winning percentage of any coach in LSU history, going 85-20 in his 8 seasons as head coach.

LSU athletic director Joe Alleva released the following statement today about the raise.

"Les Miles is one of the premier coaches in the country and has LSU in contention for championships year in and year out. Only two coaches in the 119-year history of LSU football have coached as many years at this school and only one has won more games. Les Miles has made a commitment to LSU and LSU is solidifying its commitment to Les Miles."
