LSU football coach Les Miles noted his star running back Leonard Fournette was 10 pounds to heavy during spring practice.

Appearing on ESPN Radio's The Paul Finebaum Show yesterday, Miles showered Fournette with kudos, while making a small observation about his weight.

"Leonard was 235 to 233 or so during spring. We want him right around 225 so his strength and speed are maximized. He's an elite guy and he wants to be an elite body as he goes into fall. Certainly this summer will provide him with that opportunity," explained Miles. "He's a great teammate, unselfish. He wants for the team. He has great leadership. I think he's going to have a great year. I think he's poised to be better than he was last year."

Fournette is coming off a sophomore season in which he ran for a school-record 1,953 yards on 300 carries and a school-record 22 rushing touchdowns. His 162.8 yard per game average led the NCAA.

LSU opens up their season on September 3rd in Green Bay, Wisconsin at historic Lambeau Field for a matchup against the Wisconsin Badgers.

"Our guys will so look forward to lining up in a venue like that" Miles told Finebaum. "I think it's going to be a great game. I know Wisconsin has talent and ability and will play well."
