For the first time in program history, someone from the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns has been named a semifinalist for college baseball's version of the Heisman Trophy.

Cajuns' junior lefty Gunner Leger was one of the 25 players named to the semifinal list for the Golden Spikes Award.  The prestigious award is given annually to college baseball's best player.

Leger went 10-2 with a 1.97 ERA this past season.

Fan voting will once again be part of the Golden Spikes Award in 2017.  This announcement officially marks the opening of voting for amateur baseball fans from across the country on GoldenSpikesAward.com – the online home of the award, powered by MLB Advanced Media (MLBAM).  Voting ends June 9th.
