Tim Leger, a Lafayette native and successful assistant coach in the collegiate ranks, is joining the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns as wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator.

The announcement was made today by Louisiana head coach Billy Napier.

Leger comes to the Cajuns from ULM, where he served in the same capacity the last two seasons under coach Matt Viator.  He also served with Viator at McNeese State, where he was offensive coordinator.

Leger was drafted in the fourth round in 1992 by the Pittsburgh Pirates and played professional baseball for three seasons before beginning his collegiate football career at McNeese, where he played quarterback from 1995-98.

Leger also served as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator at St. Thomas More from 2001-06.

His son Gunner is a senior pitcher for the Ragin' Cajuns.
