Fast-food chain Dairy Queen could soon be coming back to Lafayette. Local business news site and KPEL contributor Developing Lafayette is reporting the restaurant known for their ice cream Blizzards has settled on a location and is currently in the review process to build in Lafayette.

Developing Lafayette says Dairy Queen is interested in opening on Johnston St. across from Tampico's near Louisiana Furniture Gallery.

Local Dairy Queen historian Steve Peloquin says it's been nearly 20 years since the last Lafayette Dairy Queen location closed. Many remember the DQ restaurants on University near UL and on Moss St across from the post office.

Recently, New Iberia's Dairy Queen location closed, leaving the Rayne and Opelousas locations as the last Dairy Queens in the area.
