The 2019 MLB Midsummer Classic gets started on Monday with the Homerun Derby but the actual All-Star Game will take place Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and the starting pitchers have been announced.

For the National League, it was fairly easy to determine who was going to be named the starter in Los Angeles Dodgers lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu who leads the entire league in ERA at 1.73.

As for the American League, the choice was less obvious but when the name Justin Verlander is thrown out there as the starter you won't hear anybody second guess it. Even at Verlander's advanced age of 36 years and 139 days old, he's still dealing and he'll become the oldest pitcher to start an All-Star Game since Kenny Rogers (41) did it back in 2006.

Verlander is 10-4 with a 2.98 ERA at the break. He's also struck out 153 batters in 126.2 innings pitched this season with just 27 walks allowed. He's certainly All-Star Game starting pitcher worthy and we'll see him put his stuff on display on the national stage Tuesday evening.
