Louisiana Ragin' Cajun defensive coordinator James Willis has decided to remain with the program, just one day after telling players of his decision to leave.

Willis, who in his first season, helped a Louisiana defense improve to third in the Sun Belt Conference in 2013, as compared to eighth in 2012, had reportedly accepted the position of linebackers coach with the Florida St. Seminoles.

The 41-year old Willis, who played in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles, and Seattle Seahawks, also played one season in the now defunct XFL, with the Birmingham Thunderbolts, before college coaching stops at Rhode Island (2004), Temple (2005), Auburn (2006-2008), Alabama (2009), and Texas Tech (2010).

This past season, the Cajun defense ranked third in yards allowed (393.5 ypg), second in rushing yards allowed (150.7 ypg), fifth in passing yards allowed (242.8 ypg), fourth in points-per-game allowed (26.5), and first in interceptions (14).

The Cajuns went 9-4 for a third-consecutive year, including a 24-21 win over Tulane in the New Orleans Bowl, their third-straight win in that bowl game.
