This morning Steve Peloquin and I met to try and figure out how we were going to cover Ragin' Cajuns sports this week.

We had to look at the schedule, look at available personnel and also take a look at the equipment on hand to accomplish it all.

The biggest issue this week is Ragin' Cajuns baseball and softball are both on the road; the women are in Fullerton, CA for the Judy Garman Classic.  The men are in Monroe.

And, last week we found out the men's basketball team is in the collegeinsider.com postseason tournament.

And, oh, one more thing, and this isn't UL related, but we've got a March Madness Guys Night Out on Tuesday.

It's a maze that would make me pull my hair out....if I had any.

So, after lots of discussion, here's what we've got this week:

TUESDAY--As mentioned above, Guys Night Out is at Burgersmith in River Ranch.  You can come by and fill out an NCAA bracket.  Winner gets burgers for a year from Burgersmith.  Scott Prather and Steve will be there to visit with you, until Steve has to leave for softball.  I've got baseball, so I won't be able to make it.

Baseball vs. Southern starts at 5:30 on ESPN1420.  Softball vs. McNeese is on News/Talk 960, KROF  Pre-game at 5:40.  Of course, all Ragin' Cajuns sports are available on the internet and through radioPup, a free app for your iPhone and Android phone.

WEDNESDAY-- Steve hits the road for Fullerton.  I've got first round action in the collegeinsider.com tournament Wednesday night from the Cajundome as UL hosts Rice.  Pregame at 6:35.  Tipoff is at 7pm.  You'll hear it on ESPN1420 and Hot 107.9.

THURSDAY--I'm headed to Monroe with the baseball team.  Steve will have softball vs. Arizona State beginning at 8:40 pm on ESPN1420.

FRIDAY--Steve's got softball vs. Penn State, with pregame at 12:10pm.  He'll get a little break, then come back for the game with Fresno State with pregame 4:40 (time approximate).  Both of those games will air on ESPN1420.  I'll have baseball vs. ULM starting at 6 on 96.5 KPEL.  Because of their afternoon news block, there will be no pregame show for Friday's game.  But you won't miss a pitch.

SATURDAY--Okay, now it gets interesting.

Again, it's two softball games from the Judy Garman Classic.  The Cajuns take on Iowa with pregame at 12:10.  And, the Cajuns take on Arizona with pregame at 4:40 (time approximate).  Both of those games will be on ESPN1420.

Baseball's in Monroe and it's on 96.5 KPEL.  Pregame is at 5:30.  Sunday's game, also on 96.5, has pregame at 12:30.

The real stickler for the weekend is if basketball wins its CIT game on Wednesday.  If that happens and the Cajuns either play at home or close-by on Saturday, Scott Prather will have the call on Hot 107.9.  We'll go on the air thirty minutes before game time.

If the Cajuns are sent on the road, we have issues.  Ian Auzenne has a real job.  Scott has to stay behind and mind the store (we've got three full-time employees.)

But you know what?

Steve and I both worked at the same small-town radio station earlier in our careers (but we weren't there at the same time.)  Our boss was a pretty easygoing guy.  We loved him dearly (he passed away about two years ago.)  He had a mantra for when we had situations when the radio gods threw us a curve ball with unexpected issues.

"Just get it on the air, buddy."

And, somehow, we will.
