Lockdown defense by the road team propelled the Hornets to a solid win over the Denver Nuggets 96-87. Chris Paul and David West played like all-stars while Jarrett Jack had an awesome game off the bench.

Paul scored 20 while West put in 19 points. David West is having the best season of his professional career. Chris Paul was extremely aggresive on the defensive end of the floor. At times, almost too aggresive as he committed his fifth foul with over nine minutes left in regulation.

Jarrett Jack filled in admirably, running the offense with the kind of efficiency Hornet fans have been waiting for. Jack has now played 26 games as a Hornet, and he seems to finally be comfortable with his role. His stat line was modest, 10 points, 2 assists, and 2 rebounds. But it was Jack's leadership and poise in the 4th quarter that was impressive. The Nuggets had only lost 3 games in Denver this season before tonight. With Paul in foul trouble on the bench and the Nuggets threatening,  it was imperative for Jack to step up. He did.

Carmelo Anthony was shut down by Trevor Ariza, David West, and a swarming Hornet defense. With trade rumors swirling around Anthony, Monty Williams was determined to keep Anthony from getting hot in the mile high city. Melo couldn't even get warm, finishing with only 8 points on 3 of 11 shooting after playing 34 minutes.

The Hornets will return to New Orleans tonight and get one practice in this week before a Wednesday matchup with the Magic. Orlando has a 25-12 record but have won 9 straight. They sport the 5th best defense in the league, anchored by superstar Center Dwight Howard. Hopefully the Hive will be rocking, and the Hornets number 3 ranked defense can keep the Magic from extending their winning streak. Tip-off on Wednesday is set for 7:00.
