The New Orleans Hornets picked up the fourth-year option on point guard Greivis Vasquez today, guaranteeing his salary for the next two seasons. Vasquez, the projected starter at PG, is coming off his best season as a pro.

The third-year man out of Maryland averaged 8.9 ppg, 5.4 apg, and 0.9 spg, seeing his playing time increase late in the season when Jarrett Jack missed time with an injury. Vasquez ended last season at the starter, and will start this Wednesday night when the Hornets host the San Antonio Spurs in the season-opener.

Greivis comes at a bargain price considering he's still on a rookie wage scale. New Orleans will pay him $2,150,188, and $3,203,780 next season.
