Even though the entire world has known for the last month, the New Orleans Hornets officially selected Anthony Davis out of Kentucky with the number one overall pick in the NBA Draft.

The 6-foot-10 Davis averaged 14.2 points, 10.4 rebounds and 4.7 blocks in one season with the Wildcats. He'll begin his NBA career in the same city he ended his collegiate career when he won a National Championship less than three months ago.

"The first thing I siad after the Lottery was 'it would be great to win another championship in New Orleans.' It's a great city," stated Davis. "Monty is a great coach who has played in the league and will tell you how it is. He has given me some great advice and I can't wait to get out on the court with him."

Well coach. Are you as excited as he is?

"I'm excited about having the chance to work with Anthony," explained Williams. "We have added an incredibly talented, athletic big man with greath length who is also a proven winner. In getting to know him, he's also a high-character kid and someone I look forward to helping develop further."

Davis broke an NCAA record for blocks in a season with 186, and won six of seven major National Player of the Year awards. Hornets GM Dell Demps wasn't coy about his excitement of selecting Anthony.

"We're thrilled to welcome Anthony to the Hornets family," explained Demps. "Anthony is an incredible person and very talented basketball player. We look forward to him being a part of the sustained success of our franchise on and off the court going forward."
