Gunner Leger Named 3rd Team All-American By Collegiate Baseball
Louisiana Ragin' Cajun pitcher Gunner Leger's season ended over a week ago, but the accolades continue to pour in.
Leger was named a 3rd team All-American by Collegiate Baseball today, becoming the fifth Ragin' Cajun in the last 4 seasons to receive the prestigious distinction.
Former Cajuns Blake Trahan, Stefan Trosclair, Jace Conrad and Carson Baranick all earned All-American honors since 2014.
"This is another well-deserved honor for Gunner," head coach Tony Robichaux said in a University press release. "Anytime you have someone in your program receive a national award, it puts the university in the spotlight. This is another example of baseball paying someone back for their hard work and effort. Gunner is someone that came in from day one and did everything he had to do to help our program be successful. He would be the first to tell you that he wouldn’t have had the success he did without the guys playing behind him and getting his back. I am happy that he is being recognized for his hard work and effort."
As the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year, the left handed junior finished with a 1.97 ERA, sporting a 10-2 record.
Leger also become the first player in program history to become a semi-finalist for the Golden Spikes Award, given to college baseball's best player. Fans can vote for Leger to receive the award at goldenspikesaward.com.
