After six straight road starts, Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns right hander Evan Guillory showed a crowd of 4,146 there's no place like home.

Guillory fired a complete game one hitter, facing just one batter over the minimum as the Cajuns defeated Northwestern State 4-0 at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field Tuesday night.

Guillory allowed only a first inning single to Cort Brinson, who was then erased on a double play, and a leadoff walk to David Fry in the fifth.  He retired the last fifteen  batters he faced.

"People don't understand what you're able to do once you've been weathered," head coach Tony Robichaux said after the game.  "He (Guillory) took the ball in six straight road starts and he got weathered.  Then he came home and dominated his opponent."

The complete game shutout was the first by a Cajuns' pitcher since Zach Osborne turned the trick against Troy on April 9, 2010.  Guillory (2-3) struck out seven batters in his 93 pitch performance.  Of the 27 outs recorded, only five left the infield.

"We wanted to throw some other guys who haven't thrown much," Robichaux said, "but he wouldn't let us take him out.  I felt we'd be punishing him if we put in a reliever."

Brenn Conrad had three hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Cajuns, while Steven Sensley had a pair of hits and scored a run for Louisiana, who had eight hits in the game.

The Cajuns got the only run they would need in the second inning when Conrad reached on an infield hit off starter Jeff Stovall (3-3) and scored on Nick Thurman's double down the right field line.  Louisiana (19-10) added a pair of unearned runs in the sixth when Stefan Trosclair reached on an error with one out.  Sensley singled Trosclair to second and both runners advanced on Brad Antchak's slow roller to third.  Conrad then delivered a line drive to right to plate both runners and make the score 3-0.  Joe Robbins' squeeze bunt in the seventh accounted for the Cajuns' final run.

Stovall took the hard luck loss for the Demons (16-13), allowing six hits and only one earned run in six innings of work.  He walked one and struck out four.

The Cajuns now head to Statesboro, GA to take on Georgia Southern in a three game series this weekend.  Game times are 6pm Friday and Saturday and 12 noon on Sunday.  All games can be heard on 96.5 KPEL-FM.
