Steven "Buckshot" Calvert threw for 270 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead Liberty (8-5) to a 23-16 win over Georgia Southern (7-6) in the FBC Mortgage Cure Bowl Saturday in Orlando, FL.

Calvert got the Flames on the board late in the first quarter with a 57-yard touchdown pass to Johnny Huntley and then connected with Antonio Gandy-Golden early in the third quarter which staked Liberty to a 23-7 lead.

The Eagles, whose only touchdown came early in the second quarter on a 10-yard run by Wesley Kennedy III, were only able to muster 249 yards of offense.  The Eagles were only able to muster three field goals in the second half by Tyler Bass.

The Eagles got a pair of turnovers in the second half but had to settle for field goals after both.  Bass' three field goals gave him 20 for the season, a new Georgia Southern record.
