Bill Stewart, the affable and likeable former West Virginia football coach, has died of an apparent heart attack. He was 59.

Stewart took over the West Virginia program when Rich Rodriguez left to go to Michigan.  Stewart coached WVU in their BCS bowl game that year and was named permanent coach after that win.

He was replaced by Dana Holgorson prior to the 2011 season.
