Former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun roundball star JaKeenan Gant is continuing his quest to make an NBA roster.

A two-time All-Sun Belt Conference First Team selection the past two seasons for Louisiana, Gant is off to a solid start for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, the NBA G League affiliate of the Indiana Pacers.

In Fort Wayne's season-opener against the Lakeland Magic, a 117-89 loss, Gant played 22 minutes, totaling 15 points, three rebounds, and a blocked shot.

In the Mad Ants' second game of the season, a 121-117 setback to the Long Island Nets, Gant saw 13 minutes of game action, compiling four points, six rebounds, and two blocks.

In Fort Wayne's third games of the season, a 103-100 defeat to Maine, Gant played 13 minutes, going scoreless, while grabbing one rebound.`

In the Mad Ants fourth game of the season, a 119-101 loss to College Park, Gant had his best game of the year, playing 29 minutes, totaling 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 blocked shots, all season highs.

For the young season, Gant is averaging 9.5 points, to go along with 4.8 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks-per-game.

The 2018-2019 Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Gant averaged 20.4 points, to go along with 8.5 rebounds, 2.7 blocks, and 1.2 assists per game as a senior for Louisiana last season.

The 6-foot-8, 215-pound Gant was the only NCAA Division I player to average at least 20 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per contest.

A native of Springfield, Georgia, Gant scored over 1,000 career points (1,074) in only two seasons at UL.
