One of the best players in Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball history is joining the coaching staff at an American Athletic Conference school.

Last month, former UL catcher Lexie Elkins, a three-time All-American, was named an assistant coach at the University of Houston.

A native of Victoria, Texas, Elkins hit 75 home runs from 2014-2016 with Louisiana, including 32 in 2015 as a junior, when she was named a First-Team All-American.

A three-time Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, Elkins finished her career in 12th place on the all-time home run list, despite hitting all of her homers in three seasons at UL, after transferring from Texas Tech.

Following her college playing days, Elkins spent one season in the National Pro Fastpitch League, in which she was the top pick in the 2016 National Pro Fastpitch Senior Draft.

Last season, Elkins worked as a volunteer assistant at Mississippi St.

We wish Lexie the best of luck at UH.
