A former assistant softball coach for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns has joined the coaching staff at an SEC school.

Josh Johnson was named an assistant coach at Mississippi St. earlier this week.

A native of Oregon, Wisconsin, John joins the staff of new Mississippi St. head coach Samantha Ricketts, who was named head coach last month.

Johnson served as an assistant coach/pitching coach at Louisiana in 2013, helping the Cajuns advance to an NCAA Super Regional appearance in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

After leaving UL, Johnson spent one year at UTEP, before working the last five years as the pitching coach/associate head at Ball St.

Prior to his stint at Louisiana, Johnson spent three seasons as the head coach at Faulkner State Community College (2010-12) where his 119-60 career record makes him the winningest coach in program history.

We wish coach Johnson the best of luck in Starkville.
