A Sun Belt Conference school has lost a former softball Freshman of the Year in the league to an SEC school program.

Former Troy pitcher Annie Willis, a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection and the conference Freshman of the Year in 2018, has transferred to Mississippi St.

A native of Huntsville, Alabama, Willis finished the 2018 season with a 17-9 record, to go along with a 2.57 ERA, good enough for her first-team All-Sun Belt Conference and Freshman of the Year accolades.

In 2019, Willis, pitching behind Troy ace Leanna Johnson, went 9-10 with a 2.75 ERA.

Willis, who be under the tutelage of new Mississippi St. pitching coach Josh Johnson, a former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun assistant, has two years of eligibility remaining.
