A member of the New Orleans Saints Super Bowl XLIV winning team is calling it a career.

Offensive tackle Jermon Bushrod is going to sign a one-day contract and retire as a member of the Saints.

Bushrod played his college football at Towson St., before being selected by the Saints in the 4th round of the 2007 NFL Draft.

A native of King George, Virginia, Bushrod spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the New Orleans Saints (2007-2012), becoming a starter in 2009, and a Pro Bowl selection in both the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

Bushrod was the starting left tackle on the 2009 Saints team that won the Super Bowl.

Following his six seasons in New Orleans, Bushrod left the team following the 2012 campaign, after signing a five-year, $35.9 million deal with the Chicago Bears.

The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Bushrod spent three seasons with the Bears (2013-2015), before playing the two years for the Miami Dolphins (2016-2017).

Bushrod returned to the Saints last season, appearing in 11 games, including 6 starts.

The 35-year old Bushrod played in parts of 7 seasons for the Saints, appearing in 77 games, including 68 starts, while appearing in 145 total games over his 12-year NFL career, including 128 as a starter.
