Wade Davis played cornerback in the NFL for the Tennessee Titans, Washington Redskins, and Seattle Seahawks. His career ended in 2003 due to an injury. He recently came out publicly, and has explained why he made his decision, and what it was like to be a homosexual in an NFL enviornment, where being gay was never openly discussed.

He spent several preseasons with the Titans, and developed close friendships with former Pro Bowlers Jevon Kearse and Samari Rolle.

"You just want to be one of the guys, and you don't want to lose that sense of family," Davis told OutSports.com. "Your biggest fear is that you'll lose that camaraderie and family. I think about how close I was with Jevon and Samari. It's not like they'd like me less, it's that they have to protect their own brand."

In an interview with SBNation, Davis sat down with Amy K. Nelson to answer questions about his story.
