A former assistant football coach for the LSU Tigers is returning to the SEC.

The Auburn Tigers announced on Saturday that Larry Porter will join the school as an offensive assistant.

The 44-year old Porter, a member of Les Miles' original coaching staff, who coached Tiger running backs from 2005-09, was twice named National Recruiter of the Year (2007, 2009) by Rivals.com.

A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Porter left LSU following the 2009 season to take the head coaching position at Memphis, where he went 3-21 over two seasons.

In 2012, Porter was an assistant at Arizona St., before a stop at Texas (2013) and most recently at North Carolina (2014-2016).

A former college football player at Memphis, Porter began his coaching career in the high school ranks in Memphis.
