Former Louisiana basketball star Shawn Long had a productive first year in the Australia/New Zealand based National Basketball League.

And, now he's headed to one of the best franchises in that league.

Long announced he will be joining Melbourne United for the 2019-20 season.

Long was considered to be one of the better "imports" in the league last year, playing for the New Zealand Breakers.  Long averaged 18.3 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.

He'll now join fellow import Melo Trimble on the Melbourne squad.  Long was a second team all-NBL selection last season.
