Former Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns point guard Elfrid Payton was pretty much unknown and unheralded, even after an outstanding career at UL.  Oh, the scouts knew.  The pros knew.  But when Payton was drafted tenth overall after the 2013-14 season, many fans were surprised.  They were even more surprised when Payton finished fourth in the NBA Rookie of the Year vote.

But one of the many things that has happened as the result of his success is even more questions:  Who is this kid?  What is his background? and, with a new coach on the horizon, how will the kid be impacted?

Two articles this week have come to the forefront that answer some of these questions.  One is from Sam Tabachnik of nola.com/Times Picayune, who gives more background on the quiet kid from Gretna as a youngster.  Did you know Elfrid was a math whiz?

The other is from Brett David Roberts of the Orlando Magic Daily.  It speaks of new coach Scott Skiles and how he can help Elfrid blossom into one of the best point guards in the NBA.
