Former Ragin' Cajun cornerback Dwight "Bill "Bentley started at nickel back last night in Detroit for the Lions.

Unfortunatley for Bill, his 2014 season was short lived, as Dave Birkett of The Detroit Free Press is reporting that Bentley has a torn ACL.

Bentley left in the first half of last night's 35-14 Lions win over the Giants with the injury.

After an All Sun-Belt senior year in 2011 for the Cajuns, Bentley was drafted in the 3rd round by Detroit (85th overall). He missed time his rookie year due to injury after starting 3 times in 4 games.

In 2013, Bentley played in 13 games, making 5 starts and specializing in the nickel slot.

With Bentley's injury, the Lions only have 4 healthy cornerbacks on the roster. Expect Detroit to make a move this week.

Perhaps Champ Bailey's phone will ring. He worked out for the Lions last week after being cut by the Saints.

Bailey, a 36 year old future Hall of Famer, has made it clear that he intends to play in 2014.
