The Florida Gators won the 2015 Women’s College World Series, defeating the Michigan Wolverines, 4-1, in the final game of the championship series on Wednesday night at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

With the victory, Florida wins the best-of-three game series, 2-1, and repeats as national champs, the first program to accomplish that feat since Arizona back in 2006-2007, and one of only three programs to repeat as champs in the last 34 years, joining UCLA and Arizona.

For the Gators, it is also the second national title in program history.

For the Wolverines, it was their fourth loss in five tries to Florida this season, while suffering only four other losses the entire campaign.

Florida, the top-seed in the tournament, scored the first four runs of the game, plating three in the bottom of the first, and another in the bottom half of the second, while Michigan, the third-seed, could only muster a single run in the bottom of the fifth.

The Gators, who equaled the same number of hits as the Wolverines, with five, were led at the plate by sophomore outfielder Justine McLean, who went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base, while junior first baseman Taylor Schwartz drove home two runs.

In a losing cause for Michigan, sophomore shortstop Abby Ramirez went 2-for-3, while junior second baseman Sierra Romero went 1-for-2, along with a walk, and an RBI.

Senior Lauren Haeger (32-2), the 2015 USA Player of the Year recorded the win in the circle for Florida, her 32nd of the year, allowing five hits, one walk, and one run, while striking out five.

For Haeger, who was named the tournament MVP, it was her fourth win in the 2015 WCWS.

Haylie Wagner (25-3) suffered the loss for the Wolverines, allowing four hits and four runs over 1.1 innings, just one night after tossing a shutout against the Gators in game two.
