The Cajuns will try again this week.

After coming up short against SEC foe Arkansas, the Cajuns will head to Manhattan, Kansas to take on the Wildcats of Kansas State.  The defending Big 12 champions were knocked off by North Dakota State last week and are sure to be focused for this week's game against the Cajuns.

Louisiana has never won in Manhattan, although they defeated the Wildcats at Cajun Field in the last meeting between the two schools.  If the Cajuns are going to win a road game against a team from one of the Big Five conferences for the first time in school history, here are some of the keys.

1.  BE BETTER AT OFFENSIVE TACKLE - Mykhael Quave and Octravian Anderson got their baptism under fire last week, playing a collegiate game at tacke for the first time.  While they had their moments, they also got beat too often.  Now that they have a game under their belts, both need to play much better this week against a Kansas State line that isn't as good as Arkansas'.

2.  CHOKE OFF THE RUN-- One of the reasons North Dakota State was victorious last week was their ability to stop the run.  Counting sacks, Kansas State got only 41 net yards rushing last week.  The K State quarterbacks are more mobile than the Cajuns saw last week and the Cajuns need to be aware of that, too.

3.  RUSH SUCCESSFULLY WITH AS FEW AS POSSIBLE - Because the Wildcats struggled to run last week, it won't be a surprise if they throw it early.  The Cajuns have to get a pass rush with four in order to drop back in coverage to help a secondary that was outmanned last week.  Lineup adjustments should make that group better, but they still won't be ready for a lot of one on one coverage.

4.  GET BROADWAY LOOSE - Arkansas' game plan was to make sure Cajuns' quarterback Terrance Broadway wasn't able to hurt the Hogs running the football.  While that is easier said than done, you can bet the game plan for KSU will be similar.  The Cajuns need for their quarterback to be effective running as well as throwing.  That makes Alonzo Harris and the other running backs more effective.  That will be big this week.

5.  DON'T GET DROPSY - The Cajuns' most effective receiver a week ago was TE Jacob Maxwell.  It will be important this week for the wideouts to make more of a contribution to the offense.  This includes not having unnecessary drops which was a problem last week.  Jamal Robinson has much better hands than that.  He needs to show that this week...and Butler and Surgent need to do a better job of getting open.

It's supposed to be 99 degrees at kickoff.  Won't that be fun.
