Ah, fantasy football is in the air and it's everyone's favorite day during the week leading up to the games, Waiver Wire Tuesday.

As we did last season I'll be breaking down the best players to add off the waiver wire to your fantasy football rosters on a weekly basis. Maybe there's an injury or a player who's just not performing up to expectations, dump them and find yourself a gem off the waiver wire that'll help you dominate.

Also, as a rule of thumb, if you're new to our weekly fantasy football column we don't look at players off the waiver wire who are owned in more than 50% of leagues and we use ESPN.

This week we continue with the bye weeks but only two teams will enjoy Sunday off. In addition, we've got a couple of players dealing with injuries, and we're going to need to replace them because some of them are going to miss a couple of weeks.

In addition, again now would be a great time to think ahead a little bit. What I mean by this is a little planning can go a long way by looking to see which of your guys have bye-weeks coming up and grabbing someone who has a good match-up when your stud is chilling on his bye.

BYE WEEK: Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys

Happy hunting.

QUARTERBACKS:

Mason Rudolph, PIT vs. MIA (6% Owned)

With the Pittsburgh Steelers coming off their bye week and their players feeling fresh they resume play with a delicious match-up against the lowly Miami Dolphins. That's why I like Mason Rudolph this week as a streaming option if you have Lamar Jackson/Dak Prescott on their bye or if you have a quarterback with a difficult match-up.

Kirk Cousins, MIN vs. WSH (THUR) (39% Owned)

It was an ugly game last week in Washington between the 49ers and the Redskins where the weather definitely played a factor. This week there will be zero weather factor in Minnesota as Kirk Cousins has been on fire lately, taking advantage of weak defenses. Over his last three games, he's thrown 10 touchdowns and only one interception as well as throwing for 300 plus yards in every game. It is a short week for Cousins and the Vikings but the Redskins rank 18th against opposing quarterbacks.

Sam Darnold, NYJ @ JAX (21% Owned)

Welp, things didn't go well, to say the least against New England on Monday Night for the Sam-chise with a nifty -6 fantasy points. However, better days will be ahead for Darnold, maybe not this week on the road against Jacksonville but starting in week nine he's got a bunch of tasty match-ups. He's got, MIA, NYG, WSH, OAK, CIN, MIA that's a pretty solid lineup if you're looking for a quarterback.

RUNNING BACKS:

Ty Johnson, DET vs. NYG (2% Owned)

Kerryon Johnson is going to miss some time for the Detriot Lions and that hurts because he's a very talented back so now we've got to look and see what's behind him. Take a flyer on Ty Johnson or even J.D. Mckissic, I think Johnson will get the first crack at early-down work and Mckissic will be more of a third-down option.

Chase Edmonds, ARI @ NO (32% Owned)

If you have David Johnson you need to add Edmonds, NOW. He may have a difficult match-up this week and in the weeks to come (SF twice in three weeks) but if he plays he may find himself sort of like an Austin Eckler type play in the Cardinals offense.

WIDE RECEIVERS:

Kenny Stills, HOU vs. OAK (15% Owned)

The Houston Texans didn't fair well this past week against the Indianapolis Colts and the offense lost one of their weapons in Will Fuller to a significant hamstring injury. That means there's a gig open as the number two WR behind DeAndre Hopkins and I think Stills has the goods to be that guy. Last week he put up 105 yards on four catches and he's got a good match-up with the 28th ranked defense against wide receivers this season in the Oakland Raiders.

TIGHT ENDS:

Kyle Rudolph, MIN vs. WSH (18% Owned)

Kyle Rudolph had done absolutely nothing up until this past week when Adam Thielen was forced to exit the game early with a hamstring issue. From there Rudolph was solid catching five of six balls thrown his way for 58 yards and a touchdown. Much like with his quarterback he's got a good match-up against the Washington Redskins on Thursday Night Football.

DEFENSE:

Steelers vs. MIA (34% Owned)

The Pittsburgh Steelers coming off of their bye are facing the Miami Dolphins... Enough said.

Best of luck in week eight.
