TNT's host of Inside the NBA, Ernie Johnson, earned a much deserved Sports Emmy Award, but it's what he did with it that has us all reaching for the tissues.

Johnson, often referred to as "EJ" on the show, corrals Shaq, Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith in a way most broadcasters simply admire, and he makes it look easy. On top of being an incredible sports broadcaster, Johnson is a strong and inspiring man. A man who is familiar with the battle against cancer, he took his moment in the spotlight to shine it on another: Stuart Scott.

The late ESPN personality lost his battle with cancer early this year, and the public response was overwhelming. The creator of such phrases as "Boo-yah" and "cooler than the other side of the pillow" fought valiantly until the very end, and Johnson wanted not only to dedicate his award to Stuart Scott, he went a step farther and gave it to his family. He also delivered a message with the gesture (speech starts around 2:00 mark in video, dedication around 3:00 mark).

"You may have cancer, but it doesn't have you," Johnson said while fighting back tears. "You just keep fighting, and you just lean in on people who love you."

The sports world lost of the the greats. A true pioneer. His daughters lost a father. This award won't bring back Stu Scott, but Ernie Johnson deserves more than just credit for what he did to shine his spotlight on a family trying to cope.
