Elijah McGuire is already a monster, and he could be even scarier as a senior.

NFL scouts have McGuire's name down in their notepads and his highlights on their computers, but in his final year in Lafayette, he's trying to right his name into some Ragin' Cajuns history.

"The Prophet" wore his two rings to Media Day, which should remind all Cajun fans of the expectations heading into 2016: win the Sun Belt Conference and win a bowl game again.

In terms of personal goals, McGuire could easily break 1,000 yards and rack up a ton of catches and touchdowns, but the thing he wants the most isn't easy to measure.

"I just want to be the best running back in the conference," McGuire said. "I want to feel like I can't be touched, and for me to be that type of back, I have to work harder and show teams: you can't stop me."

Defenders beware, Eli is on a mission. Protect your ankles, or they might get broken.

On top of his ability to make people miss, McGuire is working on the meatier parts of the running back position. He said you have to be able to block to play in the NFL, so that's been his main mission this offseason, in terms of improvement. He also weighs in with a mean 215-lb build, which he said he "beefed up" this summer. All of this should be music to Cajun fans' ears.

When we first talked to Eli, he was a quiet, shy guy. He might not be the loudest guy on the field, but the senior in him is starting to show. When he speaks his mind, he doesn't stutter of hesitate in front of the camera. When he says he wants to be the best back in the conference, he means it. There's an intensity underneath his million dollar smile, and he's about to unleash it on the football field.

Welcome to 2016, the Year of the Prophet. Get your popcorn, and prepare for the show.
