Former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun point guard Elfrid Payton enters NBA free agency this weekend, and is open to whatever comes next.

A starter with his hometown New Orleans Pelicans last year, Payton registered 6 triple-doubles on the season, including 5 straight, while only playing in 42 games due to an ankle and finger injury.

This Sunday, Payton is hosting his annual charity kickball tournament in Gretna, featuring Payton, and a number of other NBA players. The tournament is open to the public. (Learn more details on the event here)

Payton joined my show on Friday for an interview, discussing free agency, what last year was like with the Pelicans, why Anthony Davis' trade request didn't surprise the team, what Aaron Nelson's training staff is capable of, Louisiana Ragin' Cajun basketball, Sour Patch Kids and more.
