More honors for Louisiana point guard Elfrid Payton.

The two time first team all Sun Belt Conference member and 2013-14 Defensive Player of the Year has been named to the Lou Henson All-America team by collegeinsider.com.

Payton is one of 30 players honored.  He now becomes a finalist for the Lou Henson Player of the Year award.  The award is named for the long time Illinois and New Mexico State coach, who is one of only 12 coaches to take two different schools to the Final Four.

The Henson award is given to the top mid-major player in Division I basketball.

Payton was the only player in Division I to average 19 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals per game this season, and one of only ten Division I players to record a triple-double during the season.  He had six double doubles during the season.

Payton helped lead the Cajuns to a 23-12 record and a Sun Belt Conference Tournament championship and an NCAA Tournament berth.
