In nearly 3 seasons as Eagles head coach, Chip Kelly tried to do things his way. In the end, it wasn't enough to keep his job.

Kelly also had final say on all player personnel, which appears to have been his undoing.

Last offseason, Kelly released respected veterans Cary Williams, Trent Cole, James Casey and Todd Herremans.

He then traded All-Pro running back LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills, and McCoy hasn't been shy about his negative feelings toward Kelly. McCoy was traded for linebacker Kiko Alonso who was coming off an ACL tear. He traded quarterback Nick Foles for quarterback Sam Bradford who saw his previous two seasons end with ACL tears.

On top of those moves, Kelly paid the 2014 NFL rushing leader DeMarco Murray to a 54 year $40 million deal in free agency, and has failed to utilize him properly.

Prior to Kelly's busy offseason last spring, he had relative success in his first two years with the Eagles.

After a 10-6 record and division title in 2013 and a playoff berth that ended with a loss to the New Orleans Saints, Kelly led Philadelphia to a 10-6 record in 2014, but the team lost their final 3 games and missed the playoffs. This season, the Eagles sport a 6-9 record, and have lost 5 of their last 7.

Had Kelly only been coach, perhaps he'd still have his job. However, having final say on player personnel led to a poor 2015.
