Saints fans and the entire sports world are still in a state of shock over former New Orleans Saint Will Smith's murder. There are still many unanswered questions surrounding the tragic shooting that left Smith's wife injured, and Smith dead. New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees says he felt both "sad" and "angry" at New Orleans over the ordeal.

Brees spoke about the shooting quite passionately to WWL, saying he's sick and tired of hearing people react to news like this with the typical "Oh, that's New Orleans" and hopes that some change can come about for the city as a result of this tragedy.

Drew said "You have to find a way for something positive to result out of this. As difficult as that sounds right now because it's so tragic and we're all so torn up about it, you have to find a way to make this a catalyst for positive change."

Brees went on to say "You know, there were so many emotions when I first heard what happened. And I'll be honest with you, part of my emotions was I was angry. I was sad for New Orleans, and I also was angry at New Orleans. Because I feel like this is a problem that's been around for a long time. And it's not just New Orleans, it's nationwide. It's worldwide. It's the way that people treat people."

Drew may not have been technically born in New Orleans, but it's pretty clear his time spent in the city has absolutely transformed him into a true, passionate and legitimate "New Orleanean", and I love that about him.

We all know how important faith is to Brees and his family, and Drew says "I think having a Christian influence in your life can also solve many of those problems, because if you know that God is in your heart, and that you have a purpose and that God has put you on this earth with talent and abilities to go out and make this world a better place and to treat others with respect and thoughtfulness, I believe that changes people. It's a fact. And so all those things together I feel like can change."

Drew had a whole lot more to say about the situation. He went on for about 5 minutes. You can read more about Drew's WWL interview over at espn.go.com.
