One of the bowls tied in to the Sun Belt Conference has undergone a name change.

The bowl formerly known as GoDaddy will now be called the Dollar General Bowl.  The announcement was made Wednesday morning in Mobile.

The game features the #2 choice from the Sun Belt against a team from the MId-American Conference.  Georgia Southern represented the Sun Belt in the 2015 bowl, played annually at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

The contract with GoDaddy expired after last season.  The internet domain registrar company is concentrating its efforts oversees.

The bowl game has been in existence since 1999.  It was known as the Mobile, Alabama Bowl in its first season, then was sponsored by GMAC from 2000-10 before GoDaddy took over sponsorship in 2011.  It will be played this year on December 23.

Dollar General has nearly 13,000 stores in 43 states.
