And, the winner of the Manny Machado sweepstakes is.....

The Los Angeles Dodgers.

The defending National League champions acquired the four time all-star from the Baltimore Orioles for five prospects.

Machado was considered to be the biggest name of all those rumored to be on the trading block before the July 31 deadline.  He is having the best year of his young career, batting .315 at the all-star break with 24 home runs and 65 RBI.  He has surpassed the 30 home run mark each of the last three years.

Machado will be a free agent after the season and the Dodgers are not expected to sign him.  But Los Angeles lost shortstop Corey Seager early in the season to Tommy John surgery and felt they needed Machado to keep them in the hunt for a second straight World Series appearance.

They appear to have paid a pretty high price.

The biggest name on the prospect list is OF Yusniel Diaz.  The native of Cuba was hitting .312 for AA Tulsa and hit a pair of home runs in the Futures Game over the weekend.  2B Breyvic Valera, RHP Zach Pop, 3B Rylan Bannon and RHP Dean Kremer were also included in the deal.
