Daniel Hawthorne, a standout from one of the top prep football programs in the state of Louisiana, has decided to play his college football at LSU.

Hawthorne, a long snapper from West Monroe High School, committed to LSU over the weekend, accepting a preferred walk-on offer.

Being a preferred walk-on, Hawthorne won't be on scholarship but has been assured of a roster spot.

The 6-foot-1, 250-pound Hawthorne is currently a senior at West Monroe and is scheduled to graduate next spring.

Hawthorne also drew interest from such schools as Baylor, Furman, Louisville, and Memphis.
