UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier understands the importance of professional wrestling in his sport.

Cormier, a native of Lafayette, and a graduate of Northside High School is a big wrestling fan.

Yeah, Cormier is former team captain for the United States Olympic wrestling team in 2008, but we're talking professional wrestling.

Last Saturday, after his second round submission victory over Anthony Johnson, Cormier compared himself to WWE Superstar Roman Reigns, after he heard some boos, and then began playing to them.

Muhammed Ali was inspired by "Classy" Freddie Blassie, and Conor McGregor was inspired by Ali, so Cormier comparing himself to Reigns is smart, and good business.

Congrats on retaining your championship Daniel; just understand you'll never have to play to boos in Lafayette!
