The Teurlings Rebels are keeping football in the family. Sonny Charpentier stepped down as head coach, but now is son, Dane, is taking the reins.

Dane watched his father prowl the sidelines for the Rebels since he was a toddler, and now he gets to live out his dreams by following in his father's footsteps. He's one of the brightest offensive coaching minds in the state of Louisiana, and he's going to have plenty of weapons at his disposal.

Although he's young, this isn't Charpentier's first head coaching gig. He was the head man at Opelousas Catholic for two years before becoming the offensive coordinator at Cecilia, and he picked up valuable coaching knowledge from OC's experienced staff. Taking over Teurlings is a step up, but he's comfortable with the pressure of being a head coach.

To add to the strong family connection, he will be coaching alongside his brother.

Together, Dane and his brother, Roch, will design the offense and implement it at practice. Roch played quarterback at a high level in college, and Dane caught passes as a receiver. With their combined perspective, they should keep defenses on their toes at all times.

Take some time to hear Dane's thoughts about the honor of being chosen by his father to take over the program he so carefully built over the years, the dream opportunity of getting to coach alongside his brother, his plans for the program and the vision for the future.

Teurlings is still in the hands of a Charpentier, but it's the beginning of a new era.
