Could the LSU Tigers be playing a recent national champion on the gridiron in the near future?

Apparently, that could very well be the case.

While a neutral site is always a possibility, reporter Zach Lentz says it looks like the games would be home-and-homes.

Clemson, who won the 2016 national title, before losing in the College Football Playoff semifinals to Alabama last year, has road dates with Notre Dame in 2020, 2022 and 2028, and a home game against the Irish in 2023, but no other games against Power 5 non-conference opponents on the immediate horizon.

LSU has met Clemson only three times before, winning twice, but Clemson won the last contest capturing a 25-24 triumph in the 2012 Peach Bowl.
