Could a former fan favorite make a return to the New Orleans Saints, after five years away?

Apparently, one NFL reporter thinks that running back Darren Sproles has an open mind about a return trip to New Orleans.

ESPN's Adam Shefter, in a radio interview, said that Sproles has left the door open about a possible return to the Saints.

Sproles, who will turn 36 this month, is currently a free agent, and unsure whether or not he will even play in 2019.

Shefter said if Sproles does decide to play, he would prefer for it to be with one of the teams he has played for (Saints, Chargers, Eagles).

Is a Sproles return to New Orleans likely?

No; but it's kind of fun to think about.

The 5-foot-6, 190-pound Sproles played for the Saints for three seasons, from 2011-2013, compiling 1,067 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns, to go along with 1,981 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns.

Since leaving New Orleans, Sproles has spent the last five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles.
