A local prep football star will be staying in the state of Louisiana to play his college football.

Tyreke Boyd, a safety who attends Comeaux High School, committed to Nicholls St. over the weekend.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Boyd will begin his senior season in the fall and is scheduled to graduate next spring.

Boyd has also reportedly been offered by such schools as ULM, Southern, Houston Baptist, South Alabama, McNeese, Lamar, Prairie View, and Toledo.
